General Films, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of plastic film and bags, located in Covington, OH.  We are currently seeking a full-time General Maintenance Associate.  The successful candidate will install, maintain, adjust, and repair equipment in manufacturing environment.


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.  Performs preventive maintenance tasks that cannot be assigned to operators.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, manufacturing engineers or other maintenance works to diagnose problems or repair machinery.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired mechanical and electrical parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out assembly, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Works with Director of Operations and supervisors to ensure operations are performed in a safe manner.
  • Assists manufacturing engineering in improving the process and quality of exsisting or new equipment.
  • Takes part in the pre-acceptance and acceptance of new machinery as needed.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as the lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Must be flexible to work any shift, overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


Requirements and Skills:

  • Results oriented, critical, strategic thinker.
  • 2-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associates Degree (AA) from a two year college, university, or technical school (additional experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Detail-oriented possessing excellent follow up, organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision in order to complete all assigned tasks
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word & Excel  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members of managers. 
  • Ability to read metric drawings, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
